Abstract

Mobile telecommunications in North East Indian states was launched only in 2003, 8 years later from the rest of the country. Ministry of Home Affairs and defence establishment strongly decided against the extension of mobile services in these regions citing internal security issues. With the advent of mobile telecommunications in the region, it is expected to bring about all round development including education, healthcare, business and economic growth.
