Author Guidelines
The African Journal of Biomedical Research (AJBR) welcomes high-quality submissions in biomedical sciences, allied health, and related disciplines. Authors are advised to carefully follow these guidelines to ensure a smooth submission and review process.
1. Types of Manuscripts
AJBR accepts:

Original Research Articles (full-length)

Review Articles (systematic or narrative)

2. Submission Process

Manuscripts must be submitted online through the AJBR submission system.

All submissions must be accompanied by a cover letter stating the manuscript’s significance, originality, and confirming that it is not under consideration elsewhere.

Corresponding authors must provide complete contact information, including email and phone number.
3. Manuscript Preparation
-
Language: Manuscripts must be written in clear, concise English.
-
Format: Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx), double-spaced, Times New Roman 12 pt, with continuous page and line numbers.

Structure:
-
Title Page: Title, authors’ full names, affiliations, ORCID IDs, and the corresponding author’s contact.
-
Abstract: 200–300 words, structured (Background, Methods, Results, Conclusion).
-
Keywords: 4–6 keywords.
-
Main Text: Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion.

Acknowledgments (if applicable).
-
Conflict of Interest Statement.
-
References: Follow Vancouver style.

Figures/Tables:

Number consecutively, include titles and legends.

Submit figures in high-resolution JPEG/TIFF.

Tables should be editable (not embedded images).

4. Ethical Considerations

Research involving humans or animals must include an ethical approval statement and follow international ethical guidelines.

Authors must declare conflicts of interest and funding sources.
5. Plagiarism Policy

AJBR uses plagiarism detection software. Manuscripts with more than 15% similarity (excluding references) will be rejected.
6. Peer Review
-
All submissions undergo double-blind peer review by at least two experts.

The editorial decision (acceptance, revision, or rejection) will be communicated within 4–6 weeks.
7. Open Access Policy

AJBR is an open-access journal. All articles are freely available online immediately after publication under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY).
8. Article Processing Charges (APCs)
-
APCs apply after acceptance. Details are available on the journal’s website.
9. Copyright and Licensing
-
Authors retain copyright but grant AJBR the right to publish and distribute the work.
