Introduction: Every year, millions of children around the world face sexual abuse and exploitation. Sexual and reproductive health education is an important form of health promotion action against it1. Child sexual abuse (CSA) is a serious and hidden problem in India. The World Health Organization defines CSA as the involvement of a child in sexual activity that he or she does not fully comprehend, is unable to give informed consent to, or for which the child is not developmentally prepared and cannot give consent, or that violates the laws or social taboos of society.2
Objectives: The objectives of the current study were to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching program in terms of knowledge among female secondary school children in a selected school of Aligarh, U.P.
Methodology: A pre-experimental research with one group pre-test post-test design was used. Structured knowledge questionnaire was used to gather the knowledge of subjects. 120 secondary school female children were selected using total enumerative sampling technique. The study was conducted in A.M.U. city girls high school Aligarh Uttar Pradesh. Sample and sampling: 120 secondary school female children were selected using the total enumerative sampling technique.
Result: The results revealed that before administration of structured teaching program, 48.3%, 44.16% and 7.54% of subjects were in good, average and poor knowledge categories respectively whereas post structure teaching program administration 98.33% had good knowledge and rest 1.67% had average knowledge there was statistically significant association of knowledge of students with their age.
Conclusion: The current study highlights that Structured Teaching Programme on child sexual abuse is an effective method to enhance knowledge of school children on child sexual abuse. Awareness among children about child sexual abuse can prevent them from being victims of the same.
