Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to map the evolution of polychronicity research through a bibliometric analysis spanning 1997–2024. By examining key themes, influential authors, affiliations, and citation trends, the study provides a comprehensive overview of the intellectual structure and development of this research domain. It seeks to identify emerging research patterns, core sources, and scholarly impact, contributing to a deeper understanding of polychronicity’s role in various disciplines.

Design/Methodology/Approach: This study employs a bibliometric methodology, analyzing data retrieved from Scopus and Web of Science, two of the most comprehensive academic databases. Key bibliometric indicators such as citation analysis, H-index, Bradford’s Law, and annual scientific production trends are utilized. The analysis is conducted using VOSviewer and R Software, which facilitate network visualization, co-citation mapping, and trend analysis. The study systematically examines Key Themes in Polychronicity Research, Most Global Cited Documents, Affiliations Production Overtime, Most Relevant Affiliations, Authors’ Local Impact by H-Index, Most Relevant Authors, Sources Local Impact by H-Index, Core Sources by Bradford’s Law, Relevant Sources, Average Citations Per Year, and Annual Scientific Production to understand the research complexities comprehensively.

Findings: The results indicate a progressive increase in polychronicity research, with a significant rise in citations and scholarly contributions over the years. Certain institutions and authors have consistently influenced the field, while specific sources have emerged as primary contributors. Citation patterns reveal core research themes and highlight the impact of interdisciplinary studies on polychronicity.

Originality/Value: This study provides a structured bibliometric assessment of polychronicity research, offering scholars and practitioners a detailed insight into its academic evolution. The findings serve as a foundation for future research directions and highlight key contributors, sources, and thematic developments in the field.
