A Study of The Common Causes of Dystocia in Animals’ Field of Tiara Veterinary Hospital -Iraq

The study was conducted on 29 clinical cases of cow , sheep and goats , suffering from dystocia, which brought by the owners to Thi– Qar teaching veterinary hospital , during the extended period from 14/10/2023 to 20/3/2024 . the present study appear the dystocia result from fetus high percentage (74% ) than dystocia result from maternal (26%) , fetus death and faulty disposition were main cause of dystocia from fetus while, the uterine cervix dilation failure was main cause of dystocia from maternal. Treatment of these caes according to dystocia cause which included obstetrics manverous, hormonal tratment, cessarain section which was best method for treat dystocia result from ringwomb , hormonal and manual traction and fetotomy were best method for treat dystocia , if the uterine cervix diltation. On the other hand, the current study focused on measuring the levels of estradiol, glucose, and calcium in sheep and goats, as the study recorded high significant differences in the levels of estradiol and glucose in sheep and goats during dystocia, while there are no significant differences in the level of calcium between sheep and goats. The statistical analysis also showed that there was a highly significant difference in the level of estradiol between sheep and goats that carried live fetus and those that carried dead fetus, while there was no significant difference in the levels of glucose and calcium. The statistical analysis also showed that there was a significant difference in the levels of estradiol and glucose in heifers and multiparous animals which were suffering from dystocia, while there was no significant difference in the calcium level between heifers and multiparity. The curreent study was concluded the fetus death , faulty disposition and ring wormb was more common cause of dystocia which result from fetus and maternal in almost the animal because of hormonal deficiency , malnutritional and bad management , also this study was concluded the cessarain section and fetotomy was best tratment method comparative with hormonal and manual atraction.
