Background: Bronchial asthma is a respiratory condition caused by allergies, marked by hightened airway sensitivity, the presence of inflammatory agents, and structural changes in the airways. It can be induced by various triggers, including medications, respiratory infections, dust particles, cold temperatures, physical activity, emotional stress, workplace irritants, chemicals, histamine and ovalbumin. Adiantum capillus veneris has long been utilized for treating respiratory and urinary conditions, demonstrating its efficacy in relieving coughs, congestion and hoarsness. Objective: This study aims to assess the anti-asthmatic properties of Adiantum capillus veneris through a range of experimental methods. Methods:In this study a butanol extract from AC was assessed for its potential in managing asthma, utilizing a murine model and milk induced leukocytosis model in mice. Results: The findings of the current study demonstrated that the butanol extract of AC, administered intraperitoneally at a dose of 5mg/kg ,significantly reduced milk induced leukocytosis in mice compared to the control group.
Conclusion: It can be inferred that the butanol extract of AC BUT could potentially be utilized in the treatment or control of asthma
