Abstract

This study conducted to evaluate the levels of heavy metal contamination in water and fish samples of general estuary river at three cities locations during 2023-2024. Three Bottled sample (100ml) of water biweekly were collected from each city location during the study. The collected sample were transported in cool box to the laboratory. Also, Three samples of water and three samples of fish biweekly were collected from each city location. Heavy metals contamination were included cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb) and arsenic (Ar) in all samples of water and fish. This study indicates that the rate of water and fish pollution (Cd and Pb heavy metals) in general estuary increases as the river’s flow progresses in the cities after Baghdad, also the results revealed that the heavy metals concentration were relatively low in general estuary.
