Background of the study: A study to assess the effectiveness of training programme on knowledge and practice regarding basic life support among non-medical student at Teerthanker Mahaveer University Moradabad (U. P).Objectives: To assess the Knowledge regarding basic life support. To assess the practice of non-medical student regarding basic life support. To evaluate the effectiveness of training program on knowledge and practice regarding basic life support. To find out the association between pre-test knowledge and practice regarding basic life support among non-medical student with their selected demographic variables.
Method: The study was conducted in Faculty of Education, TMU Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh. Pre-experimental design was adopted in this study. The sample consisted of 80 from non-medical students and data was collected by using convenient sampling technique via self Structured Knowledge Questionnaire along with practice checklist was used as a tool for data collection. The collected data was organized in master data sheet and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics as per objectives of the study, using SPSS version 20.
Result of study Manifested Pre-test and post-test knowledge level of Participants. It depicted that of major portion of the pre-test is (2%) of participants had adequate knowledge, few participants (9%) had moderate knowledge and majority of participants (69%) had inadequate knowledge and here by the post-test depict that majority (78%) of participants had adequate knowledge, few of participants (2%) had moderate knowledge and participants (0%) had inadequate regarding basic life support and according practice level It depicted that in pre-test most of the participants 74 (92.5%) had poor practice level, 6 (7.5%) had good practice level whereas in post-test majority 77 (96.3%) had good Practice level, 3 (3.8%) participants had poor practice level regarding basic life support and Data revealed that participants had pre-test mean of 9.2 with Standard deviation of 1.54, and participants had a post-test mean of 12.55 with Standard deviation of 0.95. There is a significant difference between pre-test and post-test practice score regarding BLS among non-medical student was accepted and P value is more than 0.05 which indicated there is a no significant association between pre-test practice score regarding BLS with selected demographic variable. Hence, the research hypothesis is rejected for this study.
Conclusion-The findings of the study revealed that the training programme and demonstration on basic life support was effective in enhancing the knowledge as well as practice of the non-medical students.
