Abstract

Micro emulsion dosage form is clear, stable, uniform liquid mixture of oil, water and combination of surfactant – co surfactant mix. Micro emulsions are one of the best candidates as novel drug delivery system because they emerged as novel vehicles for drug delivery which deliver drug by all routes of administration. Micro emulsions can be easily distinguished from traditional emulsions by their transparency and thermodynamic stability. Micro emulsions have wide range of applications and uses in pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, biotechnology, food, cosmetics, analytical applications, environmental detoxification etc. The main objective of this review paper is to discuss micro emulsions as drug delivery system.
