Abstract

Hypertension stands as a major worldwide health problem because it elevates the chances of cardiovascular and renal complications developing. The evaluation process continues for determining which antihypertensive therapy works best between Angiotensin Receptor Blockers (ARBs) including telmisartan and Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme Inhibitors (ACEIs) including ramipril. This evaluation integrates academic research with primary findings from sixty newly diagnosed untreated hypertensive adults who received either telmisartan 40 mg or ramipril 5 mg daily for twelve weeks at a tertiary care hospital in Vizianagaram. The research tracked blood pressure measurements of systolic and diastolic pressure and body mass index (BMI) and adverse effects. The blood pressure levels decreased substantially to similar degrees when patients received telmisartan or ramipril. The drugs demonstrated equivalent results in terms of their effectiveness. The adverse events in both treatment groups were minimal yet dry cough occurred more often in patients taking ramipril. The study period showed no significant BMI changes because both drugs maintained metabolic stability. Both telmisartan and ramipril demonstrate effectiveness and tolerability as first-line blood pressure treatment options for essential hypertension in adult patients according to literature synthesis and prospective research. Additional studies using big populations from different groups need to occur to show better distinctions between agents regarding both safety outcomes and treatment effectiveness over time.
