The purpose of this paper is to study equality before the law, and equal protection without discrimination as a basic principle in relation to the protection of human rights. Each state shall ensure to all persons in its territory, and under its jurisdiction, the rights recognized in international law without distinction of any kind as to race, color, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property and birth or other status. The study examines human rights as a standard that protects the dignity of all human beings living in a society as well as their relationship with the state.
The study confirms that, according to international and domestic laws, every person has the right to participate, contribute and enjoy civic, political, economic, social and cultural development. The study emphasizes the need for states and other incumbents to comply with the legal norms and standards contained in human rights instruments.
