Geographic Information Systems (GIS) play an increasingly critical role in public health and disease surveillance by providing spatial analysis and visualization of health data. This paper explores the applications, challenges, and future prospects of GIS in public health, focusing on its use in disease monitoring, healthcare resource allocation, and environmental health analysis. Through case studies and literature, we illustrate how GIS enables health professionals to address public health challenges effectively. The paper concludes with a discussion on GIS’s transformative potential in promoting global health.
