Abstract
Bronchial Asthma is a chronic respiratory ailment which produces distress in the patient’s day to day activities especially in children. There are several triggering factors for bronchial asthma ranging from environmental changes to changes in life style, food habits etc. In Ayurveda, a disease called Tamaka Swasa is explained which presents with the symptoms of paroxysmal attacks of breathlessness, cough, coryza, rapid respiration etc.
METHODS: This is a single case study of 12 yr old male pt presented to the Kaumarabhritya OPD with the complaints of difficulty in breathing since 3 years associated with decreased appetite. The pttient was treated with classical Virechana followed by internal medications for 3 months.
RESULTS: The patient showed remarkable improvement in severity of symptoms as well as frequency of attacks along with partial relief in all the other associated symptoms.
