Efficacy Of Greeva Basti With Laghu Vishgarbha Taila And Manual Cervical Traction In The Management Of Manyasthambha (Cervical Spondylosis): A Clinical Study

Background: Manyastambha is one of the Vatavyadhi and further explained as one of the eighty types of Vataja Nanatmaja vikara which occurs in Urdavajathrugatha Predesa. It is characterized by pain, stiffness of the neck and restricted movements and very commonly found in the practice. Vata Dosa play an important role for origin of Manyastambha. The sign and symptom of Manyastambha bear similarities to Cervical Spondylosis in modern medicine. Cervical spondylosis is currently treated with a relatively conservative approach that includes analgesics, opioids, muscle relaxants like (NSAIDs) to reduce inflammation.
Material & Methods: Present study Greeva Basti with Laghuvishgarbha Taila and Manual Cervical Traction was done on 40 Patients of Manyastambha (Cervical Spondylosis), who were divided into two groups by using Randomization Method.
Statistical Analysis: The result were statistically interpreted using different tests such as Wilcoxon signed rank test, Mann-Whitney U-test, Paired t-test, and Unpaired t-test to assess the statistical significance.
Result: The study results indicated that group A and group B improved the pain intensity, but clinically and stastically relief was more in group A in comparison to group B.
Conclusion: The combination therapy of Greeva Basti with Manual Cervical Traction is more effective to provide relief in sign and symptoms of Manyastambha (Cervical spondylosis).
