Abstract

The transformative role of microfinance in fostering sustainable economic development is examined in this paper, with particular attention paid to financial inclusion, small business support, and the empowerment of marginalised groups, especially women. The study emphasises the potential of microfinance to promote economic growth and poverty alleviation by looking at its theoretical foundations and practical effects. Notwithstanding its advantages, microfinance has several drawbacks, such as concerns about sustainability, the possibility of excessive debt, and regulatory obstacles. The report highlights the need for sustainable financial models, ethical lending practices, and public-private partnerships while offering policy recommendations to improve the efficacy of microfinance programs and outlining potential research topics. These suggestions seek to address persistent issues and optimise the beneficial effects of microfinance on worldwide economic growth in order to guarantee long-term success.
