Abstract

INTRODUCTION: Dental sensitivity is a widespread condition marked by discomfort or pain in teeth when exposed to stimuli like heat, cold, sweetness, or brushing. This sensitivity arises from exposed dentin, often due to gum recession, enamel erosion, or dental issues such as decay. Common symptoms include pain when eating or drinking hot, cold, sweet, or acidic substances, sensitivity to air or water, and discomfort while brushing. Dental sensitivity can impair quality of life, causing individuals to avoid certain foods and drinks. Understanding its prevalence, triggers, and effects is essential for enhancing dental care and quality of life for affected individuals.

AIMS & OBJECTIVES: This study aims to assess the prevalence of dental sensitivity within a community, gauge the level of awareness and understanding of dental sensitivity, and identify common triggers and contributing factors. By capturing firsthand experiences and perceptions, the study seeks to provide valuable insights for dental professionals and researchers to improve management and treatment of dental sensitivity.

MATERIALS AND METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted among individuals aged 30-50. A closed-ended questionnaire, distributed via Google Forms and printed sheets, assessed the occurrence and impact of dental sensitivity.

STUDY DETAILS:

SUBJECTS: Age group 30-50 years.

SAMPLE SIZE: 100

PROCEDURE: A questionnaire was distributed to assess the prevalence and impact of dental sensitivity within the specified age group.

STATISTICAL ANALYSIS: Data collected was organized in Excel and analyzed descriptively.
