Abstract

This review article aims to discuss biochemical alterations caused by homeopathic treatments in the human body and how homeopathy might affect human metabolism, hormone secretion, immune responses, and other physiological processes. Even today homeopathy is a matter of controversy mainly because of the absence of molecular proof of the effectiveness of homeopathic remedies, especially those in high dilutions. This review also combines clinical and laboratory research on the impact of homeopathic therapies on enzyme function, neurochemical changes, immunological reactions, and metabolic alterations. It also describes the difficulties in assessing these biochemical alterations, particularly because homeopathic remedies contain relatively tiny amounts of active substances. The article describes the state of the art of the current theories about the function of homeopathy such as water memory and quantum biology. It discusses the ethical, scientific, and methodological issues. Lastly, since scientific data is still lacking, improved research incorporating biochemical techniques in homeopathy may help to provide a clear understanding of the status of homeopathy in the modern systems of patient treatment as well as provide an opportunity for integrative medicine.
