Abstract
Introduction: The importance of clinical training for faculties of nursing cannot be overstated, as it plays a critical role in shaping their competence and confidence in providing high-quality patient care as they impart the learned knowledge to the children of the country on large. The aim of the study was to assess the effectiveness of faculty development programme on simulation based clinical practice; a total of 46 faculties from Sharda School of Nursing Science and Research, were assessed pre and post hands on practice level of scores using OSCE.
Methodology: using one group pre test and post test design, all the nursing faculties were included in the study, the assessment included IV Cannulation, CPR (ACLS), hospital codes & patient transfer procedure; the faculties were hands on trained for a period of 5 days hands on the above.
Results showed that (n = 14, 30.43%) had good clinical competencies, whereas (n=32, 69.56%) had poor knowledge during pretest assessment with a mean (17.36±4.12); the post test assessment clearly showed a mean difference of (24.36±4.07), (n=38, 82.6%) improved their clinical competencies after FDP programme.
Conclusion faculty development programme plays a crucial role in shaping nursing faculty, ensuring the successful integration of learning into practice; evaluating and enhancing clinical competencies of nursing faculty can effectively prepare future nurses to deliver high-quality patient care in dynamic healthcare environments
