Abstract
Diabetic patient’s health care can be improved only by adequate knowledge about their health status. Studies has shown that due to diabetic patients do not show positive attitude toward recommended eye examination which is helpful to prevent visual impairment (VI) and blindness.
The level of understanding of DFE and recommended frequency of DFE among Diabetic patients is likely to affect their level of self-education and self-monitoring. Higher educational status correlated with better awareness of recommended frequency of DFE testing, better socio-economic status and absence of retinopathy to also correlate with this awareness. Large number of patients following up with Retina clinic, the level of understanding of DFE testing and awareness about recommended frequency of DFE among this group of patients might be higher than general population. The level of awareness of recommended frequency of DFE testing among new patients is less as compared to old patients.
