Abstract

This study explores strategic management and governance frameworks for Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) in agribusiness, focusing on Purvanchal, Uttar Pradesh, a region predominantly reliant on agriculture but challenged by limited infrastructure and resources. The research aims to address governance, risk management, and stakeholder alignment issues impacting agribusiness PPPs. Using an exploratory, qualitative approach, data were gathered from structured interviews, focus groups, and document analyses of stakeholders, including government bodies, private firms, and local farmers. Key findings indicate that effective governance structures, robust risk management strategies, and capacity-building efforts are essential for sustainable agribusiness PPPs. Successful models highlight the importance of stakeholder alignment, market orientation, and regular community engagement, while failed models underscore issues like poor role clarity and insufficient market research. Recommendations include adopting collaborative governance frameworks, integrating technology for risk monitoring, and developing context-specific policy support. This study provides actionable insights and a framework for enhancing PPP effectiveness in agribusiness, with implications for similar socioeconomically disadvantaged regions.
