Abstract
Pharmacovigilance, as defined by the World Health Organization, involves the science and activities related to the detection, assessment, understanding, and prevention of adverse effects or any other drug-related problems. This discipline is crucial for ensuring that patients receive safe medications. Our understanding of a drug's adverse reactions can be enhanced through methods such as spontaneous reporting, intensive monitoring, and database studies. New initiatives are being developed to bolster pharmacovigilance at both regulatory and scientific levels.
