Abstract
Objective of the study is to assess and compare the physical abilities of adolescent teen athlete both boys and girls with different age group were selected from the reginal sports meet of KV Schools.
Methods: For the purpose of the study thirty (300) teen athletes from the reginal sports meet of KV Schools both boys and girls of under 19, under 17 and under 14 of years of age were selected for the purpose of the study. And to assess and compare the physical abilities of the athletes the Speed, General Strength, Flexibility, Endurance. The descriptive statistics such as mean, standard deviation was used and for the comparison of both boys and girl’s adolescent teen athlete on the factor of physical abilities the One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and LSD, post hoc test was employed at .05 level of significance.
Results: The mean and standard deviation of the factors of physical abilities of boys and girls are as follows; Speed for under 19 boys and girls (7.78 ± 0.86) and (7.61 ± 0.54), under 17 boys and girls (7.86± 0.58) and (7.58 ± 0.57), and under 14 boys and girls (7.92 ± 0.89), and General Strength under 19 boys and girls (30.42± 9.35) and (28.50 ± 5.13),, under 17 boys and girls (31.78± 4.88) and (30.34 ± 6.01) and under 14 boys and girls (28.76 ± 6.50) and (31.68 ± 9.13), Flexibility under 19 boys and girls (16.58 ± 3.83) and (16.22 ± 2.90), under 17 boys and girls (15.94 ± 3.68) and (17.46 ± 3.61), and under 14 boys and girls (16.04 ± 3.64) and (15.22 ± 3.19), and Endurance under 19 boys and girls (4.04± 0.93) and (4.12 ± 081), under 17 boys and girls (3.86 ± 0.77) and (3.80 ± 0.67), and under 14 boys and girls (4.28 ± 0.86) and (2.75 ± 0.54). The ANOVA and LSD, post hoc test results shows that all the factor Speed, General Strength, Flexibility, Endurance.
Conclusion: The physical abilities of adolescent teen athletes have found in-similarities and having good physical fitness level with lot of scopes for the improvement.
