Abstract
Thalassaemia is a chronic condition that can lead to psychosocial issues for both parents and kids. Parents may enhance the care of their children with thalassaemia and preserve their quality of life by giving them compassionate, encouraging support and not treating them any differently than other kids. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of education in increasing parental support for children with thalassemia. A pre-test and post-test control group design is used in this quasi-experimental study. The parents of 56 children with thalassemia were randomly selected to be used as a sample of all thalassemia patients. To increase support for children with thalassemia, participants were divided into two groups. One group received direct instruction regarding parental support, while the other group received a module that included parental support. Measuring parental support for children with thalassemia using a questionnaire. There were differences in parental support after the intervention in the treatment group and the control group. It can be concluded that after the educational intervention, parental support in the treatment group was better than the control group with a P-value of 0.021. Parental support education for children suffering from thalassemia is effective in increasing parental support for children suffering from thalassemia at RSUD Dr. Soedirman Kebumen.
