India has the tradition of using herbal formulations that contain goodness of herbal extracts. Medicinal plants are recognized for this purpose and subjected to several evaluation procedures. Weeds have not been considered as medicinal plants hence their active constituents are not identified and used for the same purpose. Although they have rich sources of therapeutically active secondary metabolites. Petraeovitex bambusetorum is identified as a weed and later cultivated as an ornamental plant. This species is native to Peninsula Malaysia and Borneo (Sabah, Sarawak). It is a liana that occurs primarily in the humid tropical habitat. This research represents a significant advancement in investigating pharmacologically active constituents, with the potential to benefit human health as medicinal agents. It also revealed that active secondary metabolites like phenol, terpenoids, steroids, glycosides, and tannins are present in the extract. Most of them are water-soluble and are supposed to be efficient in reducing inflammation. Further investigated the activity for antiinflammation through different in-vitro models using Cyclooxygenase activity, Lipoxygenase activity, Myeloperoxidase inhibition, and Nitrite concentration. The plant extract showed dose-dependent anti-inflammatory activity.
