Abstract

Background: A hernia is described as when a portion of the peritoneum or bowel pushes through a hole in the abdominal wall. Most of the abdominal organs are enclosed by a membrane called the peritoneum, which borders the abdominal cavity, pouch that protrudes also known as the hernial sac. The most common types of hernia are hiatal hernia, Umbilical Hernia, Femora Hernia, Inguinal Hernia, and Incisional Hernia. The most common hernia is groin hernia in population.
Purpose: A study to assess the effectiveness of self- instructonal module (sim) on knowledge regarding hernia and post-operative management among in patients
Methods: In one grouped pre-experimental investigation with paired "t" = 42.33 at P=0.05 level of significance, the mean post-test level of knowledge is considerably greater than the mean pre-test level of knowledge, i.e., 49.06% for pre-test and 81.89% post-test. By using the Chi-square (X2) test, it was determined that the results and a demographic characteristic like occupation were significantly related.
Result: The study's aims and hypotheses served as the foundation for the data analysis, which was done, and the results were provided together with sample characteristics and knowledge level. The study's overall mean post-test knowledge score is 81.83%, compared to a mean pre-test knowledge score of 49.06%, and the remaining enhancement score is 32.83%.
Conclusion: The study employed a pre-experimental (one group pretest posttest) design and an evaluation strategy. 60 samples were used in the data collection, which was done using a straight forward non- probability sampling method. To determine the link, the data was analyzed using descriptive statistics like frequencies and percentages as well as inferential statistics like Chi square.
