Knowledge, Attitude And Practice Of Contraceptive Usage Among Reproductive Age Women Attending Tertiary Care Hospital In Uttara Kannada District, Karnataka, India

Abstract

A contraceptive is any device or activity that is preventing a female from getting pregnant.(1) India’s projected population will be 1.53 Billion by the year 2050.(2) Every fifth birth in the world is an Indian, and 50% of the Indian population is of reproductive age, at this rate of population explosion contraceptive usage becomes imperative. Hence in 1951 India became the first country in the world to launch a programme on family planning to reduce population growth(3).
