Abstract
This report illustrates a case of neglected developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) in an 11year old female patient, who presented with complaints of pain over the left hip associated with limping. Given the age of the patient, a corrective pelvic osteotomy was required; however, this patient already underwent a previous surgical procedure for the left hip at 3 years of age. Our management plan henceforth employed the Dega osteotomy with the San Diego modification, normally performed in patients with musculoskeletal disorders, as the posterior coverage offered by this procedure renders it more flexible than comparable pelvic osteotomies (such as Pemberton’s).
