Health care professionals constantly face work-related stress in their day-to-day work setting, which can be very devastating to their well-being and the delivery of care to patients. The review essay explores the psychological aspects of work stress in the healthcare sector and their consequences to the healthcare personnel. In our paper competently, we will review and cite literature that evidence how work pressure in health care produces several negative effects on the well-being of the staff and how the psychological factors predispose this experience of stress. Synchronisation of demand-control, social support and individual variability of stress perception and coping mechanisms is a vital subject covered. Beyond that, effect of work stress on the psychological well-being, positive thought about work and performance is studied as well. The account also goes in-depth to tackle the specific work stress known to affect the healthcare professionals and further reconnoite some of the problems these aspects breed for both patients and organizations. Significant consequences for the healthcare system are thoroughly examined in terms of facilitating prevention and treatment of workplace stress by managers by providing a work stress management policy. In conclusion, a psychological approach must be taken while tackling workplace stress to ensure the health of professionals and the quality of the service.
